Do we have to hurry up?

or just lie back in piece and enjoy life
because it's too late anyway?
"Humanity will be extinct within a hundred years," stated the 95-year-old world-renowned virologist Frank Fenner in 2010.
"The main causes are overpopulation, climate change and environmental destruction."
Fenner was not hopeful for the future. "We are only at the beginning of the climate change that will probably cause our extinction. Homo sapiens will not be able to survive the population explosion and “unbridled consumption,” and will become extinct, perhaps within a century, along with many other species.

He said he believes the situation is irreversible, and it is too late because the effects we have had on Earth since industrialization (a period now known to scientists unofficially as the Anthropocene) rivals any effects of ice ages or comet impacts."
Fatalism is comforting and probably the best attitude.
