of all the senses 'sight' is the dearest to me.
Colors cheer me up and images always evoke sweet memories and witty associations. I can't help it. An image lands on my retina and the visual memory takes off.. Last week I had the honor to 'meet & greet' an artist I admire for a long time: Marielle Soons I saw her new works and immediately I was haunted by the spirits of Jeff Makin and David Hockney

...... the opening of exposition in La Finca Barbera.
600 yes, that many! enthousiastic people showed up, the weather was gorgeous and the food delicious which is typical and so fantastic about.Spain. and the wonderful thing is: they are made from waste and move all by themselves. Take a look at Theo Jansen's "Strandbeesten"
I was deeply impressed by the latest work of architect/painter Manuel Hernández, titled "Entremares", what can be described as "Between Sky and Sea". An impressive series of pastels, all different portrayals of the same stretch of sea, in changing seasons, at different times of the day.
Touching to find the the Playa Central in Villajoyosa being captured op paper, in all the splendid colours only Mother Nature could invent. How unbeatable is Mother Nature. Cliffs along the beach aren't just rock formations. They're dormant dinos that have forgotten to keep an eye on us. As they live by the ancient sundial you can only see them for a short while and at the right time.
I could catch a few, just after sunrise, on this still idyllic because unspecified shore That would be a tremendous improvement
Until then it is mainly older men, often wearing a dress or showing off dyed hair that proclaim women are destined to bear children and should be punished if they don't. or just lie back in piece and enjoy life because it's too late anyway? "Humanity will be extinct within a hundred years," stated the 95-year-old world-renowned virologist Frank Fenner in 2010. "The main causes are overpopulation, climate change and environmental destruction." Fenner was not hopeful for the future. "We are only at the beginning of the climate change that will probably cause our extinction. Homo sapiens will not be able to survive the population explosion and “unbridled consumption,” and will become extinct, perhaps within a century, along with many other species. He said he believes the situation is irreversible, and it is too late because the effects we have had on Earth since industrialization (a period now known to scientists unofficially as the Anthropocene) rivals any effects of ice ages or comet impacts." Fatalism is comforting and probably the best attitude. Art is such a beautiful way to channel your energy and improve your skills.
Enjoying Art does require a bit of self-discipline, but you get so much more in return: coping techniques for day-to-day life.. A small example of Old and New, with the same advice: speak and act with honor |
